MacArthur and Osteen are Pastors of the Same Type Church
Being uneducated and inexperienced on Joel Osteen's church, I will only comment on the author's perspective on Grace Community Church. From being at their church for the annual Shepherds Conference and hearing Dr. MacArthur teach countless times I can only arrive at the conclusion that ChosenRebel is not well informed. GCC and MacArthur's bent is and has been that the job of the church is to teach and preach the Word of God and allow the Spirit to do the work or transformation. It is just that simple. Perhaps they lean so heavily on this that they leave out any amount of following Paul's example to the worshipers of Athens. However, they are starting with the right foundation-God's Word. ChosenRebel gives no evidence to support the claim that CGG and MacArthur are "attractional". I can see how he would arrive at that conclusion without more knowledge of their "model" but again they are very intentional about allowing God's Word to do the attracting, not anything else. Cultural differences and model variations between local assemblies are nothing to be prideful about. We should spend more time discussing the truth of God's Word than we spend critiquing other models that we feel are lacking in some way. It would be oh so nice if God's Word espoused one very clearly outlined plan for how to "do" church, but sadly, it does not. However the foundation for how to "do" church is clear-teach the Word. GCC and Dr. MacArthur get this right!
